Gallery Updates

We've had some exciting happenings around the gallery lately!

In preparation for our upcoming show, Gothic Fiction & The Dark Romantics, we've received the first painting from Chris Mars.  This piece is titled 'Hanford #8' and was also the image we used for the invitation.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the opening of 'Gothic Fiction & The Dark Romantics'!  The show opens at the gallery on Saturday, June 14 from 7 - 9 p.m.

We've also received a bit of promotion from the folks over at Weird Fiction Review.  You can read the full write up here.

And finally, one of the artists, Michael deMeng, has recently been featured by a news station in his hometown of Vancouver.  You can see the full interview here.

Upcoming and Current Shows

We've recently gotten the full body of work for Shannon Richardson's upcoming show in March.  Here's a few peeks at some of the paintings set to display…

'We, Within the Fold' by Shannon Richardson

'Top of the Hill' by Shannon Richardson

Also, don't forget about two our current shows!  We have Erin Ruiz and Beth Bojarski's work in the front gallery.

And Heidi Preuss Grew and Michael Barnes's show will only be up for one more week (ending March 1st) - be sure to catch this great exhibition while you still can!

Happy Friday!  Remember we're open Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm.

Artists Pages

We're currently working on a new feature for the gallery's website.

Want to see?...

If you peruse our inventory (found on the Inventory Search tab), you'll find the list of Selected Artists on the left.  Soon, each name will have a link to their own artist's page, where we'll include an image and a short statement about each artist's body of work.

As you can see, we have information up for Ego (our current exhibiting artist), and the next two upcoming artists, Kristian Adam and Michael de Meng.  The rest of the selected artists will be linked up shortly, so keep an eye out for that.

Go ahead and check it out for yourself!

Gallery changes

We've received some exciting parcels for the gallery in the past few days!

Below are the Gnome Be Gones we've included in the gallery shop.  They're from Sugarpost Metal, who design creatures and trinkets from leftover scrap metal.  They have some turtle friends in the gallery as well.

We also received the work for Kristian Adam's upcoming solo exhibition, 'A Woodland Recital.'  They're hiding for now, but they'll debut on Saturday, August 31st.  Or, if you come by the gallery and ask before August 31st, they might come out for a sneak peek.

We're also open for late hours this Friday and Saturday from 7 - 9 p.m., so stop by after dinner!  Have a great weekend!

Website Updates

We've recently made some changes to the gallery's official website and thought you might like a short tour of the new look...

As you can see, the top logo has been redone along with the opening home page on the website.  From now on, when you visit our site, you'll see the current show on the left (now Ego's work) and the upcoming show on the right (Kristian Adam).  Another change is the upper navigation bar (which now includes a handy blog link!).

The inventory page has changed slightly as well.  In addition to access to our entire inventory online (seen on the right), you can also quickly select from 15 different artists to see an image of his or her work.  Some of these artists may change in the future to reflect our changing exhibition program, so keep an eye out for that as well.

As you can see, we've maintained the original inventory layout and just added the 15 artists to the side for convenience.

What do you think of the new look?  You can check everything out for yourself here. If you have questions or find any hiccups, please let us know!  And enjoy!

Results!

We're starting to see results from our recent refurbishment!  The gallery has gotten a few new coats of paint, several new walls, and a couple of display cases.

We still have some more changes to make, but we're quite happy with the look so far.

What do you guys think?

New Gallery Shop

Brumfield's Gallery will be going through some exciting changes in the coming months!

Every business goes through change and the gallery is due for a little shake-up of sorts.  We've decided to add a new element to the space at the front: a gallery shop!

The new shop will feature items that we haven't yet featured in Brumfield's Gallery, such as jewelry and greeting cards.  The shop will also include more prints to choose from.

While we haven't settled on the entire collection for the new shop, we are very excited to announce that our first artist in Brumfield Gallery's shop will be Carolyn Morris Bach, a jewelry maker from Rhode Island.  We plan to feature her pieces in the gallery shop coming in September 2013.

Fox Shaman Pin/Pendant

Bach's pieces are simply gorgeous and feature delicate details and imagery from natural elements such as the sun, moon, and animals.  Each piece is hand crafted using an array of beautiful materials, such as wood, bone, metals, ivory, and stones.  The Fox Pin above is just one of the several pieces we will bring to the new shop.

Bach's jewelry has been collected widely across the US and internationally.  Her work has earned her recognition from several prestigious institutions including the Smithsonian Institution, the American Craft Museum, and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Brumfield's Gallery is thrilled to feature Bach's work in the upcoming gallery shop.  Be sure to check in with us in the future to see how the changes are coming along!

Christine Brennan Opening

Tomorrow will be the opening for our next featured artist, Christine Brennan.

Brennan is an artist working out of Ojai, California and will come to Boise to attend the show.  Brennan approached the gallery because she was a fan of some of the artists the gallery represented, and sure enough she was a good fit for the gallery owners’ taste for quirky and eccentric work. Christine Brennan’s work is dreamlike and enigmatic.  Never setting out to illustrate a specific theme or story, the paintings are united by a feeling of enchantment and whimsy.

 'Untitled (PA885)'

Working primarily in oil on paper or board, Christine Brennan’s artworks exude an ethereal sensation, portraying characters and scenes that are both surreal and sincere. The work stands as the artist’s independent visual statement and yet is meant to incite a relationship with each viewer that is unique to them.

'Untitled (PA823)'

Christine Brennan studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and earned a BFA in Illustration.  Working out of her studio in Ojai, Brennan exhibits across the country and has work in many collections, including the Carnegie Art Museum, and the City of Ventura Municipal Art Collection.

Christine Brennan’s opening event is on Saturday, June 8th, 6pm – 9pm. Brumfield’s Gallery openings are open to the public and feature a no-host bar provided by 13th Street Bar & Grill. The exhibition runs through Sunday, July 13th.  Brumfield’s Gallery is open seven days a week, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

We'll see you there!
